The Cascade Concept
It can be a waste of resources to sell off systems for $50 or $200 when they could be doing useful work around the school.
It can be a waste of money to have state of the art systems being used for creative writing, typing training, email and basic internet terminals and the like.
When new equipment is purchased put it where it is most appropriate to the task and cascade down existing equipment to places where it can still do useful; work.
A cluster of superseded systems can still make a useful creative writing centre in the English area where the focus is on the text not the appearance.
It is generally a good idea to have all your systems belonging to the school as a whole rather than individual areas as this facilities location and relocation to areas where it is most appropriate.
